St John’s College Library has twenty-seven Oriental manuscripts. This includes Arabic, Persian, Syriac, Hebrew, Turkish, Ethiopic, and Gujarati manuscripts. All of our Oriental manuscripts are described in the following catalogue:

MS 91
MS 91 contains an Arabic translation of Ulugh Beg’s astronomical and chronological tables (zīj) in the revised version. It was completed on 20 Ṣafar 939 (21 September 1532).

MS 155
MS 155 contains an anonymous and incomplete set of Arabric astronomical tables in addition to an anonymous set of Arabic calendric conversion tables. The paper, ink, and script suggest that this manuscript was made in the 17th century.
